The Houthis are escalating their attacks on Saudi Arabia — but could the growing threat create an opportunity for Israel? The Houthis have stepped up attacks on Saudi Arabia, with 13 civilians wounded in ballistic missile and drone strikes on several cities. The group has also targeted Saudi oil infrastructure, seized strategically located islands in the Red Sea and is attempting to disrupt Saudi shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Riyadh says it will take whatever measures are necessary to protect the kingdom.
Israeli security forces say they have foiled another planned terror attack. A 19-year-old Arab Israeli from Kafr Kassem has been arrested on suspicion of planning an October 7th-style attack. Authorities say Mustafa Issa had amassed training equipment and weapons, searched online for combat training material and downloaded instructions for making explosive devices.
Iran says it is shutting the door on talks with Washington — at least for now. Tehran’s security chief says there will be no negotiations until Iran’s conditions are met, dismissing President Donald Trump’s offer of talks as “mixed signals.” Iran is demanding that sanctions be lifted and that the US and Israel compensate it for damage sustained during the war.
America’s war with Iran has cost more than 33 billion dollars — and depleted US weapons stocks. A Pentagon watchdog says 22 billion dollars was spent on munitions alone during Operation Epic Fury. The report warns that the scale of weapons use created “strategic inventory shortfalls” and exposed serious problems replenishing America’s arsenal.
And Israeli troops have uncovered Hezbollah rocket launchers containing 32 rockets ready to be fired from southern Lebanon into Israel. The IDF says troops also dismantled a Hezbollah hideout containing an underground shaft. The military says the launchers had been left in the area before the ceasefire came into effect.
