Israel has confirmed striking the Abu al-Duhur military airbase in Syria to prevent Turkish forces from establishing a presence there, after Damascus reportedly ignored repeated Israeli warnings. The attack drew rare public criticism from Washington, with US envoy Tom Barrack calling it an “unnecessary escalation” and warning that it nearly triggered a military confrontation between Israel and Turkey.
